Final Bows

Our show Dye Jung, as part of the NEOMFA Playwrights Festival, had its final performance this past Saturday.
The audiences seemed to really enjoy the whole experience and were very complimentary of the material and the execution.
All in all it was a fabulous experience.  I enjoyed helping to contribute to a wonderful slice of art and working with such talented people always inspires and motivates me.
I am looking forward to seeking out any opportunities this little venture may bring out.  And as always I am eager to put something new on my schedule.
Ready, Set, GO.

NEOMFA PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL cont.

Rehearsals for Dye Jung have been going well!
Its always a journey, putting a piece together, and this one is definitely following that rule and is not the exception! Its kinda like excavating for that lost artifact or missing civilization.  You have pieces of the treasure map, and you have possibilities and plausibilities, cause and effect, characteristics for the time period or place and so you dig!  But slowly. Because things can change and missing links can be uncovered and with that one new piece, theories re-theorized.....and soon dinosaurs aren't related to lizards but more likely birds.
It will be exciting to see this piece finally on its feet.  Each night of rehearsal it is a joy to see the characters interacting with one another and building them from the ground up has been a fulfilling experience.  Tech rehearsals are coming up and opening night is a mere 8 days away! And dig.

The Process Begins

I had rehearsal last night for the piece that I am in as part of the NEOMFA PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL.  I really love the process of finding that character.  It is a bit scary to go in with an idea of character and then before you know it, through discussion and experimenting, you veer off into another direction, walking out of the rehearsal space with a character than the one you walked in with.   It is exciting, terrifying and awesome all at the same time.  I cannot wait to see how these 3 characters come together to tell this story.  It is amazing to see them created off of and from each others lines, movements and ideals.  They are made from each other. hhhhhuuuummmmm.
